Mission trip to dominica during my high school years
1993-1994 | CHURCH JANITOR
My first job at a church was at Miami Lakes Baptist Church. The summer of 1992, I did an internship with the while I was 16. I though it was going to be 100% helping the youth pastor, but instead I discovered it was 50% cleaning bathrooms and mowing the giant lawn. In 1993, our church founded Miami Lakes Christian Academy and I signed up for my 11th grade year. The church needed someone to transition the classrooms to be used by the school and the church. So to cover my tuition at school, I begin working Wednesday and Saturdays at the church for a year! At age, I had keys to the church building! What were they thinking?
1994 -1998 | MISSIONARY TO CHiCAGO
The church commissioned me as a missionary to Chicago while I was still in college. I would do street witnessing in downtown Chicago and serve with the urban youth ministry of New Life Community Church I did an internship with Chicago Youth Alive reaching gang members in the Little Village community. I was supported by a few individuals, Miami Lakes Baptist Church, and Fellowship Bible Church. I spoke at the annual missions conference. I also took youth on a mission trip with Miami Lakes Baptist to Dominica. At 21 years of age, along with a co-pastor, we started The Altarnative, a gen X church plant on the campus of the University of Illionois at Chicago.

1998 - 2000 | ASSOCIATE YOUTH PASTOR
After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I served full-time as an assistant to the youth pastor at New Life Community Church. I oversaw the small groups for the guys, which met in homes, and helped lead “Soul Purpose” Youth Night at the Warehouse. I would preach regularly to the youth and was mentored in ministry by Pastor Asa App. We would have a yearly retreat at a campground, take the youth to the Acquire the Fire Conference, and start taking the youth on mission trips. The first was to Miami, Florida, and then we took a group of about 25 to minister in Spain on a pilgrimage route. We biked across northern Spain, sharing the gospel from city to city. In 1999, we launched “The Youth C.U.R.E.,” a program that united youth from all over Chicago for prayer and worship gatherings.
2000-2009 | YOUTH PASTOR
When the Youth Pastor transitioned to a ministry for young adults and young couples, I was asked to lead the youth ministry. The church expanded to 14 locations, and I would lead the youth directly at the largest campus and coach the volunteer youth directors at the other locations. We would have united events, retreats, and mission trips that I spearheaded. We took the youth on five mission trips to Spain, Red Lake Reservation, and Mexico. We took over 440 youth and leaders from Chicago to a youth conference in Michigan. The Youth C.U.R.E. held its largest prayer meeting, uniting youth from 17 churches in a concert of prayer. We also hosted a Purity Summit, which brought together 1,200 youth and leaders, as well as 300 parents from various churches in the Chicago area.

2010-2011 | new life portage park 1.0 | Church Planter / Associate pastor
In November of 2009, my wife and I transitioned to church planting. We led a core team and planted a congregation at Luther North High School in the Portage Park community. We launched on Palm Sunday, and the church had a strong start, with approximately 80 people in attendance. That summer, the mother congregation and the church plant merged back together and purchased the school for $3.4 million. I became the associate pastor and would preach 40% of the Sundays to the new combined congregation of 600 people. I oversaw the small group ministry. In one year, it grew from 14 to 30 small groups.

In 2010, we moved to the West Rogers Park community of Chicago. There were 10 mosques and 30 synagogues. It was home to the Little India business district. One of the census tracts in this area was the most diverse in the Midwest. God opened the door to plant a multi-cultural congregation in 2012. The church had regular attendees from 30 different countries from five different continents. About 180 people considered New Life Rogers Park their church home. The neighborhood was very transient. We baptized approximately 50 new believers over six years. In 2018, God led me to pass the torch of leadership to a young leader I had been mentoring.

Over the last seven years, I have had the honor of speaking at youth groups, camps and churches all across South Florida. I have also networked with over 120 pastors by visiting over 100 churches and meeting with many of the pastors one on one for coffee.
